This is the first of a series of recordings I'll be making of very easy to moderate lute pieces which are adequate for beginners, with a few added notes. It is mostly directed to students although anyone can benefit from them, of course.
This first piece is a Pavane, a very famous type of dance in the Renaissance, in triple meter and divided in three sections. This one was edited by Pierre Attaingnant in the first half of the 16th century.
I repeat each of the three sections adding very subtle ornaments or diminutions in the second time. It is important to note that both the first and second sections contain repetitions but with diminutions (extra notes) on the second time.
